What it means to “Plant Your Future”

I celebrated my 40th birthday the same year that I celebrated by 20th year on the air in the radio broadcast industry. As I did every year, I celebrated my birthday with my listeners on the air of my radio talk show.

At the conclusion of the show, I went to my office and began to contemplate life. The way I saw it, I had 25 years of quality working years left, followed by about 10 years of part time employment before my body would tell me that it was no longer able to work.

I began to consider what I wanted my sunset years to look like. I wanted to travel. I wanted time to enjoy my home. I wanted to write and I wanted to be a professional volunteer.

As I assessed my desires for the future, I began to think about others that I knew who retired with the lifestyle that I wanted. I thought about what they did, and what they did not do.

After compiling my list of do’s and don’t’s based on those who were where I wanted to go, I began to take tangible steps. I enrolled in business school. I changed careers. I began taking tangible financial and professional steps to move toward my goals.

Progress was slow at first. At times, progress was not really tangible. But as progress was made, I began to pass certain milestones, and the future began to come into view. I graduated business school. My new career began to take off, and I paid off my debts and began to invest.

There’s still a long way to go, but I have more reason to be optimistic than ever before. And that is a hopeful feeling I want you to have.

“Planting your future” is about helping you identify what you want your life to be like. Once we identify that, we will help you take the tangible steps to achieve that dream.

Like planting a garden, progress will be intangible to start. However, at the right time, you’ll see the plants sprout forth and bear fruit. We’d be honored to take this journey with you.

So, what would you like your life to be like? Think about it for a minute, then contact us to schedule a no-obligation visit to go over your dream and line out the tangible steps to realize that dream.

Sincerely,

Leland Acker
